Art of the Entry: Seaside Cottage

Recreate The Look of This European Inspired Home

What I Love:

My eyes are drawn to pretty pastel colors, so I’m obsessed with the pale blue doors and matching wooden shutters against the lush lowcountry landscape.

Recreate the Look:

Front Door. Paint your front door pale blue with white trim. This custom door really creates an impact for this entry.

Paint Colors. Since my recent trip to France, I’ve been in love with pastel colors, especially light pink and blue. When I stumble upon a home and I’m unsure of a paint color, I open my Benjamin Moore Color Capture App. It allows you to upload a picture that you have on file or that you’ve just taken and it matches it with a handful of their available colors. It’s been very handy as I’m in the process of picking out a front door color for our new home in Savannah, Georgia.

Lanterns. The lanterns that flank the front door match the door hardware and wrought iron railings. I really love traditional lanterns and I definitely prefer gas lanterns when you have a gas line available. And if you opt for a bronze lantern, a beautiful green patina starts to form as it ages.
