Nursery Plans

This week marks 35 weeks! I can’t believe that our little baby girl will be here in a little over a month. I’ve been planning the design for her nursery for some time but I have to confess that I kept changing the overall look. Every time that I would choose certain fabrics I would see a nursery reveal on Instagram or Pinterest that looked the same! So I went back to the drawing board twice and finally settled on a look that I love that’s unique.

When I first started the design, the walls were a blush pink. Many of the fabrics that I selected were mainly blue and green so I thought the pink on the walls would be a nice touch. Once I saw the sample fabric swatches next to the walls, I think it needs to be more of a pink with a dusty rose.

With COVID-19, a bit of the fabrics, area rug, and furniture was delayed so we still don’t have her sweet room completely ready for her. But the area rug and furniture pieces are expected to arrive this week! We purchased the crib earlier this year and we have a bassinet so if she arrives early, she’ll have everything that she needs!

Fabric Selections.

I found Brooke & Lou via Instagram and immediately fell in love with their selection of fabrics. For the window panels, I chose their Betty in Light Blue fabric (which hopefully will be done soon). It’s one of their Life Friendly products, which means that it’s machine washable and dryer safe. They are also spot treatable with mild soap and water and can be steamed to remove any wrinkles — perfect for a little kids room.

You know that I love a good daybed. I have one in my double parlor and it’s one of my favorite pieces because it’s so comfortable and versatile. We had a smaller daybed in our St. Simons house so I ended up getting that recovered in Somerset Stripe in Sage. I loved this floral stripe pattern with the window panels, and the area rug that Casey actually picked out for the nursery.

Furniture Pieces.

I really fell in love with this sweet cane crib from Serena and Lily. I loved the shape and how it turns into a toddler bed so that it grows with the baby. I also registered for a kid’s table with two sweet rattan bunny chairs. I can see her one day coloring on this table! Too cute.

And every nursery needs a really comfortable rocking chair. Gabby furniture makes the coziest chair that we had to have in the nursery. I can’t wait to rock her to sleep!

I look forward to sharing the final design with you once the nursery is complete! Thanks for tuning in!

Congratulations!! I love what you’ve put together for the nursery. I’m working on a nursery as well! Does it seem like that rug is going to shed?

Hi Bea. We’ve had the rug now for a few months and no shedding! We love it!
