Our Carriage House Pre-Renovation Tour + Plans

A Behind the Scenes Look at Our Carriage House in Savannah, GA

We have been living in the carriage house for almost two weeks now and we finally feel like true Savannahians! We’ve been updating the carriage house as we’re living in it with two dogs. To say that it has been a bit chaotic is an understatement but we’re nearing the end and we’re so excited. I thought that I’d share some ‘before’ (and not so high res) pictures with you. I’ll be sure to share the ‘after’ pictures once the renovation is finally finished. Until then check out my Instastories for frequent updates.

When we first saw the space, we immediately fell in love with the exposed beams, brick and natural light. I just wanted to lighten it up and add a bit of color. The first step was to change out the existing flooring. Instead we installed a blue and white decorative porcelain tile. We actually decided to opt for tile on the whole first floor for durability, especially since we may decide to rent out the space in the future.

For the kitchen cabinet color, I opted for Benjamin Moore Silver Lake. I love how it looked next to the decorative tile on the floor and the marble backsplash. It’s a classic gray with a blue undertone that gives the space a much needed youthful look. The existing counter had the same green tile as the backsplash so we (quickly!) removed that and we’re in the process of installing a light gray-washed butcher block. I’m already loving how everything is turning out. I’m especially excited about my BLANCO DIAMOND Silgranit sink and faucet. Because the sink is granite, it is scratch, stain and heat resistant. And the BLANCO SONOMA faucet is the perfect pairing with the sink. I love the clean lines with the SILGRANIT-matched base. Lastly, VESTA’s Carrara white marble knobs add the finishing touch. I opted for the brushed satin nickel to complement the stainless steel BLANCO faucet. I can’t wait to see everything come together.

For the living room, I chose a gray-washed tile to match the kitchen color palette. I found the perfect blue and white herringbone 8 x 10 rug for the space and it’s been super easy to keep clean with the dogs. To add more color, I purchased a green and blush garden stool that might be one of my favorite deals from Wayfair. Because the space is small, I opted for two small side rattan chairs, a sofa and a round wrought iron coffee table. It’s the perfect amount of seating for a one bedroom carriage house.

I can’t wait to see the space come together! It’s finally starting to feel like a home. Stay tuned! P.S. I linked to all of my sources at the bottom of this post.
