Our Sunroom Refresh

A Fresh & Fun One Room Mini Makeover

As you probably already know, we recently renovated our home in Southern Georgia. We’ve been living in our house for almost 5 months now and we’re loving every bit of it, especially the sunroom! The renovation had led to so many different expenses, such as plumbing light fixtures, bathroom mirrors, hardwood floors, and the list goes on… Near the end of the renovation, I realized that one of my favorite rooms in the house became an afterthought since it wasn’t in our budget. Now that we’re finally settled in, we’re giving this light-filled room the love and attention it deserves! So today I’m sharing the plans to transform our very neutral sunroom to a more colorful and casual space.

For this project, I enlisted the help of interior designer, Kerry Spears. Kerry is a Lavin family friend and she just so happened to contact me about collaboration whenever we’re ready to renovate this room.  As a resident of Gainesville, Florida, she offers e-design assistance — which I’ve always wanted to try! So we hopped on an initial phone call and discussed my vision for the space. Within a week, I received a design proposal with preliminary sketches. She absolutely nailed my style — which I think of as traditional southern with modern touches.

We’re turning to our favorite partners, Lacefield Designs, Mintwood Home, Benjamin Moore, Overall Upholstery, Emily Pope Harris and Home Decorative Accents to completely refresh the space! Since I’ve worked with them in the past, I know that they’ll be perfect for this project. I included some sketches below to give you an idea of the design. Right now, we’re trying to finalize the paint color for the walls and some last minute details.

Stay tuned to see how it turns out! I can’t wait to share it with you. In the meantime, check out a few pictures of the space in its current state and a few sketches of our future plans.

Hey Monica. This is such a nice space. I can’t wait to see what you and Kerry create. I’m especially excited about the swing in the design. Those are always so cute. Good luck with everything.
