Get Your Front Porch Spring-Ready

Welcome Warmer Temps with Fresh Blooms

It’s such an exciting time of year because spring is officially here! Bringing your porch to life is the perfect way to celebrate the start of the season. I’ve teamed up with The Vine and Pottery Barn to show you three powerful ways to create a strong spring presence on your porch.

Spruce Up Your Planters. Planters, like these fluted concrete ones from Pottery Barn, make a stunning first impression and are great year round! For this particular entrance, Bryce Brock and Kelly Revels, the owners of The Vine, chose standard fiddle leaf figs for the the two tall slender planters that flank the door. These particular planters are perfect for a front door because of the narrow footprint and simple design. Also, the varying heights of the fluted concrete planters add dimension to the porch and help frame the door. Two smaller concrete planters with blue and white hydrangeas and maiden hair ferns were the perfect contrast to the tall fluted planters.

Brighten Your Door with a Spring Wreath. A vibrant spring wreath that compliments your planters creates a welcoming atmosphere for your front porch. Bryce crafted a beautiful wreath with eucalyptus, lemon leafs, antique hydrangeas, blue and white hydrangeas and succulents. If you’re not much of a DIY’er, then consider displaying Pottery Barn’s fragrant and fresh wreaths on your front door.

Update Your Outdoor Lighting Fixtures. The right exterior lighting will radiate a warm and inviting presence from your home. It’s a great investment since it sets the overall tone and style of your home. I love the effect of a classic outdoor pendant such as the Case Pendant (similar to the one shown), or the Bolton Lantern. Great lighting really does complete a porch and tie the look together.

Finally, I love welcoming my friends and their children with a refreshing treat when they come over in the springtime. My favorite recipe is this yogurt and strawberry popsicle, because it’s easy to make and delicious! What do you do around your house to welcome spring?

Monica, I’m obsessed with those fiddle leaf fig trees! Can I use them indoors, too? Thanks! Suzanne

Are those trees from pottery barn as well? I’ve ordered them and already have the planters. Did you add some filler in the planters for the moss to sit on? If so, what did you use? Thanks

Hi Rebecca! The trees are fiddle figs from my local garden market. I’m not sure about the fillers — hope that helps!
