I don’t know what it is, but I find gift-giving so much harder when I’m shopping for men. I’m always trying to find a gift they’ll love, but one that is original as well. We love Garden & Gun and through them we learned about their online store Mercantile + Co. It is a curated collection of items from innovative and iconic brands in the South and beyond.  You’re able to shop directly from the artisans and makers that are featured in their magazine. It is a great source for year round gifts. So naturally, this is where I searched for a Valentine’s Day gift for Casey.

For those of you who don’t know him personally, I would say it is fair to describe him as somewhat of a Bourbon aficionado. Mercantile + Co. supports small batch makers and artisan brands so I knew immediately I would be able to find a gift just right for him. They have created a limited edition (only 200 available) Old-Fashioned Kit. The kit includes a bottle of Jefferson’s Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, a bottle of Bittermilk #1 Old-Fashioned, Jack Rudy Bourbon Cherries and The Old-Fashioned Book. Casey will certainly have all of the essentials to fashion the perfect Old Fashioned. This kit comes beautifully packaged in a wooden gift box. For an added touch, I wrapped the one for Casey in Mac & Murphy wrapping paper. This Charleston-based stationary company has super fun and quirky cards, stationary, gift tags, calendars and more. I always make it a point to stop by their store in downtown Charleston. I featured them on Lavin Label in the past and since then they’ve been one of our favorite boutiques in the holy city. Their unique style was a way to add a special touch to Casey’s gift. I also tied a finely crafted stag bottle opener to the ribbon as an extra touch. It’s made of pewter and is absolutely beautiful in person. It could certainly stand as its own gift especially since it comes in a beautiful box.
