Girlfriend Getaway to Tybee Island and Savannah Part I

A Mini Travel Guide To Tybee Island, Georgia

This Post is in Partnership with Visit Tybee and Visit Savannah.
Opinions are 100% my Own.

If you follow my adventures on Instagram, then you know that I often get the opportunity to travel to Savannah for work. I shoot stories in ‘The Hostess City’ at least once a month with my incredible photographer, Kelli Boyd. Each time I visit and learn more about the city, I become even more enthralled with the charm and gracious people that truly bring the city to life. Needless to say, when Whitney Long and Cheri Leavy, from the The Southern C, asked me to join them for a girls getaway to Savannah and Tybee Island, I jumped at the opportunity.  Luckily for us, my partner in crime, Kelli Boyd with Kelli Boyd Photography, captured our adventures while also playing hostess for those of us that enjoyed being ‘tourists’ over the weekend.

This long weekend getaway was graciously coordinated by Visit Tybee Island and Visit Savannah. At the end of September, I packed my bags and drove an hour north to meet up with the whole gang–Holly with The English Room, Cheri and Whitney from The Southern C, and Kat Neunaber from Waiting on Martha. We were graciously provided with travel + beach essentials, including a One Love Organics skincare travel kit, a Dear Keaton beach blanket, super soft PJS from Lake Pajamas, CatStudio’s Savannah souvenir glass, a lightweight pullover and tote from Southern Proper, along with a silk pillow from Pillow Grace. They truly know how to make a girl feel special–this was a fabulous way to celebrate the beginning of our #CoterieGoesCoastal adventure.

The first portion of the trip kicked off with a two-night adventure on Tybee Island. If you’ve never been to Tybee, then picture an eclectic and charming beach town. Tybee Island is known as Savannah’s beach since it’s only a 20 minute drive from the city. We stayed in a quirky, oceanfront beach house on Ninth Street, which was the perfect location for riding bikes, watching the sunset and walking to local restaurants + boutiques.

Day One.

If you’re like me than as soon as you’re on vacation time, you’re ready for good food and boozy drinks. Tybee is a wonderful vacation spot since they have so many fun coastal restaurants. On our first night, we opted for fresh seafood and stunning sunset views at AJ Dockside Restaurant. I’m serious when I say that I witnessed the prettiest sunset of the entire summer that night while sipping on a spiked lemonade slushy. I would highly recommend their crab legs and hushpuppies! If you can’t decide what to wear, check out my outfit from the Cloister Collection, which was the perfect ensemble for a breezy coastal evening.

Day Two.

The next morning we headed to Tybee Island’s staple restaurant, The Breakfast Club. If you ever get the chance to visit Tybee, you have to dine at this legendary breakfast spot. It’s just a block away from Tybee’s seaside shops and fishing pier, where you can find anything from flip flops to homemade ice cream.

It wasn’t long before we were craving Bloody Marys and Mimosas, so we swung by the Tybee Island Social Club. I loved the coastal-inspired restaurant, and the gracious service was just icing on the cake. They offer endless blood orange sangrias (which I’m still craving today), a beautiful Bloody Mary and refreshing Moscow Mules. Their cocktails hit the spot for our whole group! The husband and wife team that started Tybee Island Social Club in 2010, focus on a made-from-scratch philosophy. We sampled a variety of their fresh dishes, such as mojito-infused Mahi skewers and the five spiced Latin Tuna which comes on a bed of cumin infused rice and is prepared by their Head Chef, Michael Lochiatto. The Social Club provided the perfect atmosphere for us to unwind catch up with social media. After that, we spent the afternoon exploring the funky beach town. We caught glimpses of classic beach homes, sampled the different flavors of ice cream at The Sugar Shack, and rode bikes around Tybee’s quaint downtown.

That evening we donned our sundresses and headed to Coco’s Sunset Grill to enjoy cocktails while taking in the gorgeous ocean views. Our waitress informed us that there was a Harvest moon that night, so we watched the full moon rise after dinner on the beach, which was fabulous thanks to the ideal viewing conditions. As if the night couldn’t get any better, we went to dinner at the Tybee Island Fish Camp, which was hands down one of my favorite meals from the trip. Not only is the restaurant charming + beautifully decorated, but the food was delicious. You have to try their fried oysters — you won’t be disappointed!

I’d love to hear all about your favorite spots on Tybee Island! Stay tuned for my upcoming post (Part II) on our adventures in Savannah!

Love tybee island, girl trips, starting it off at the ‘breakfast club, relaxing at the beach all day, enjoying a daiquiri mid day, then getting into the hotel pool that afternoon before getting ready to go enjoy a yummy seafood dinner, (stingrays is so good),,checking out the souvenir shops,,,maybe planning on going out on the casino boat, one night. After leaving tybee, we head out to river street for couple hours, and shop, before heading home, always have a great time…can’t wait until the next trip. 😊
