Four Ways To Refresh Your Bedroom

I’m teaming up with Wayfair to present four fun and simple ways to refresh your guest bedroom this fall. When it comes to decorating a guest bedroom, it’s important to keep your friends and family in mind. It’s the small touches that create a welcoming environment throughout your home.

Tip One. Make The Bed Cozy
I firmly believe that a comfortable bed sets the tone for a guest bedroom. Think classic and crisp, white bedding. White has long been a symbol of luxury, so your guests are likely to get a good nights sleep if you start off with a white duvet. From there, enhance their comfort with high thread count white sheets and fluffy pillows. I’ve always loved the soft and plush feeling of velvet, so I chose these green velvet pillows. This dark green provides a nice contrast to the white duvet, in addition to being the perfect fall hue.

Tip Two. Create A Warm and Inviting Atmosphere with Lighting
Whenever I’m expecting out of town guests, I turn on the bedside lamps prior to their arrival in an effort to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. These classic white ceramic lamps, with a gold base, compliment the white bedding as well as the gray-washed bedside bench. If you follow my Instagram account, you’ll notice that I always lean towards simplicity, since I believe less is more.

Tip Three. Anchor The Bed With A Bench To Offer Guests Extra Storage
I always try to add either a bench or two stools to the end of the guest bed. It’s a great place for guests to set their bags and luggage when they first arrive. Benches are a fabulous way to anchor the bed if you don’t have a footboard. In my previous Wayfair video, I recommended adding an antique element to the room in order to offset all of the newer pieces. This upholstered bench is a gorgeous way to accent your room with a vintage-inspired piece.

Tip Four. Offer Fruit Infused Water
For a special touch, have fruit-infused water ready to offer to your guests. Just pour filtered water in a glass carafe, then add fresh mint and fruit, and let it set during the day. When your guests are ready for bed, offer them a glass of ice along with the flavored water. This is a simple yet special touch to let them know that you’re thinking of them. If you want to go the extra mile in terms of welcoming your guests, gift them a set of cocktail napkins, like these Dot & Army embroidered napkins that are locally made, here in Georgia.

I’d love to see how you style your guest bedroom. Share a picture with the hashtag #Wayfairathome and #LavinLabel, and I’ll take a peek!
