Welcome Fall with J.McLaughlin

How To Assemble A Delicious + Fall Inspired Cheese Board

A few weeks ago marked the official start of fall so it’s the perfect opportunity to welcome the season with fresh fall fruits, delicious cheeses, local honeycomb, cinnamon-spiced Schermer Pecans and my fall wardrobe –such as cozy sweaters, a go-to pair of jeans and bold scarves. I’ve always loved the transition of summer to fall, and let’s just say that fall fashion and cheese plates are the perfect pairing in the Lavin household.

Cheese plates are a must-have first step when it comes to hosting parties — it provides your guest with something to snack on while they’re enjoying a glass of wine and you’re finishing up dinner. The first rule of thumb is to ditch the pre-cut cheeses and meats you can find in any grocery store. Instead, you should seek out local artisan cheeses that are guaranteed to pack a big flavor. It’s always better to include a broader variety of cheeses, thus I always try to include at least three or four different cheeses. You should also opt for seasonal fresh fruits, such as figs, apples and pears. It’s always fun to snag some local honey (that also combats allergies!), since it pairs well with soft cheeses and fruits alike. My favorite way to finish a fall fruit and cheese board is with squash or mini pumpkins. I’m also on a Schermer Pecans kick right now — I love their cinnamon glazed pecans. Lastly, crackers are a must have when it comes to serving cheeses and cured meats. You should offer a variety of crackers or bread, such as, baguettes, white crackers, and focaccia bread.

While you’re entertaining, your fall outfit should be on point. I partnered with on of my favorite brand J.McLaughlin to highlight my favorite fall fashion. I’m loving their new arrivals right now — a classic pair of jeans, comfortable neutral sweaters, and bold, printed scarves. I opted for their Beacon Sweater which has a crew cut neckline and narrow ribbing. I paired this their dark denim jeans that are super cozy + stretchy. Lastly, I wore a blue plaid collared shirt under the sweater and patchwork print blue scarf for a pop of color. Fall fashion is so fun because you get the chance to layer so many different pieces. What’s your favorite fall fashion?
